Mark Lancaster MP pays us a visit

Yesterday (14th January) we were very pleased to receive a visit from Mark Lancaster MP (MP for Milton Keynes North). Mark and his political aide Richard dropped into a play session on the Funion Bargee so they could see this innovative project in action. The children and young people were keen to show and involve him in the session, which involved some decorating paper plates and painting. Whilst out on the towpath there was plenty of space to gather round the fire and toast marshmallows – yum!

Not only did it give Mark the opportunity to visit the project, but it gave us at MKPA the platform to discuss the importance of play for children and young people and the need to keep play on the political agenda.

Blisworth play session 26th August

Following the 25th Celebrations of the Re-opening of the Blisworth tunnel, the boat crew made the journey through the tunnel north to Blisworth. An interesting experience!

The Funion Bargee was then moored up in Blisworth to host a play session for the local children and families. The mooring was quite close to the tunnel entrance so it provided some shelter from the light rain. Children enjoyed some pond dipping or should that be canal dipping? Some children were happy to stay aboard and do some art and craft activities.
